What a Week!

Wow! It has been a wild and crazy week. The Pacific Northwest has been hit by a series of severe storms. We have had it all! Snow, freezing rain, ice, hail, huge wind and power outages. We were fortunate to have lost power for only 2 days....some in the area have been out for over 6 days! We have power crews here from around the country. We have had very mild winters for a few years....I guess it all caught up to us in just one week!

The timing, for me, could not have been worse. Trying to keep up with my CHA obligations as well as my Ustream classes while having my kids home for 10 days straight and the loss of power has been a big challenge. As a result, my schedule is having to flex a bit. I am having to cancel my Ustream class for today, Wednesday (as my regulars know, I RARELY cancel my classes) but I will have class on Friday night. We will begin a Valentines project then. I am sliding the Gatefold Envelope Stack the Deck (and the pattern for it) until after CHA. I am sorry to have to delay this, but in order to give the pattern and class the attention it deserves, I have to flex the schedule. Thank you all for understanding! I will miss you all today!

Have a great week and I will see you at the regular time (7pm Pacific) on Friday!

Laura

  3. Laura, I,m just happy to hear that you and your family are okay. Your family comes first, blogging and Ustream and even Cha comes second.I Think I speak for everyone in the chat, when I say we love you and we understand situations are not always the same. I like the way you always mention us in your posts, don't worry about us, we devoted fans will still be here when you can come back. Hugs (Evethmoon)

  4. I know how you feel - we lost power for 9 days after a freak snow storm hit the northeast this past October! Enjoy CHA-W. I can't wait to see what you designed for Tim and Graphic 45!

  5. Limit your stress. Really important to keep priorities. Family is alway first.

  6. I live in Port Angeles and yes the weather has been typical crazy. I love it but have not had power outages, that would be a different story.

  8. I'm not a regular- I just found you a few weeks ago- but my gut instinct is to tell you to stop making apologies…you clearly have had extenuating circumstances and nobody would be able to stay on track with that much going on. Ease up on yourself…we will be here when you catch our breath and get everything ready. At least I would hope everyone would feel that way…Just having the kids home for 10 days would be enough to throw me off.

    1. That included the weekends and the holiday. Officially they missed 4 days. They tack it on to the end of the year. In 12 years of school in Anchorage, we had ONE snow day....we got 3 ft of snow and the bus drivers were on strike.
